BetBoom DACHA Dubai Playoffs Day 2: Not China’s Day

On the second day of the BetBoom DACHA Dubai Playoffs, two Lower Bracket elimination matches were played. The day ended with LGD and Xtreme Gaming getting knocked out of the tournament. A bad start to the Chinese New Year for the country’s teams. Meanwhile, Team Liquid and Team Spirit survive elimination for now.

LGD Gaming 0-2 Team Spirit

Team Spirit didn’t look too great against the Gladiators yesterday, but they have tidied up their gameplay and showed what TI winners are capable of.

LGD Gaming was utterly outplayed by Team Spirit, who performed much better than their previous showing. The series was a total stomp in favor of the Eastern European squad, with both maps ending in 31 minutes. None of the games were too interesting.

Xtreme Gaming 0-2 Team Liquid

The second and final series of the day was between Xtreme Gaming and Team Liquid.

In Map 1, Team Liquid maintained a net worth lead throughout the early and middle portions of the game, but it is assumed to be inflated net worth from 33’s Alchemist, so the game was relatively even. However, stand-out performances from Nisha’s Dazzle and Insania’s Oracle made it impossible for Xtreme Gaming to kill Team Liquid’s heroes.

Nisha and Insania were constantly saving each other and helping the rest of the Team Liquid squad when needed. Overall, some great team play and saves helped Team Liquid win the first map after 56 long minutes.

In the second game, Xm’s Viper and Ame’s Spectre were heavily punished in the laning phase, with both heroes essentially having a terrible early game. However, Xxs had a good game on his Primal Beast that kept the game in reach.

Still, Team Liquid performed well-executed team fights by protecting miCKe’s Templar Assassin, allowing him to get free hits. Liquid’s damage was too much, and the Western European powerhouse sent what seemed to be an unstoppable Xtreme Gaming home.

The Chinese squad went from an 8-2 run in the Group Stage to a 0-4 result in the Playoffs. Meanwhile, Azure Ray, the team that Xtreme Gaming’s core roster abandoned, is cruising in the Upper Bracket and remains the last Chinese team in the tournament.

Tomorrow, the BetBoom Team will play against the Gaimin Gladiators, while Team Falcons will face Azure Ray. The losers of tomorrow’s matches will play Team Spirit and Team Liquid in the Lower Bracket.

Only six teams remain in the tournament!
