Top-tier Dota 2 is finally back with The International 2024. Three teams have made perfect runs, going 4-0 on the first day of the Group Stage. Let’s recap what happened in each group.

Group A

Ame and XinQ are back in TI form, as Xtreme Gaming have secured a top finish in their group after a 4-0 run.

The Chinese squad took down Heroic, and also made a fool out of the Gaimin Gladiators with a swift 2-0 series. XinQ made a Position 4 Timbersaw work in the first game, going 4/3/10 building Shiva’s Guard and Lotus Orb.

Other than Xtreme Gaming’s run, there weren’t too many interesting results that brewed up. The 1win Team came into the tournament as a dark horse, but they are yet to prove themselves, sitting with a 1-3 record.

Group B

Group B was the only group that played less matches on Day 1. The day started with Cloud9 taking out G2.iG in a very easy 2-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Talon Esports and Tundra Esports traded maps. Pure was constantly offensively tipping Talon Esports players throughout the first game, but Akashi could return the favor after converting a Game 2 victory.

Overall, Group B still remains highly competitive since only a few matches were played.

Group C

Shocking results reside in Group C. Team Zero, the heaviest underdog in the tournament, is leading the group against big names such as Team Falcons and the BetBoom Team.

To start the day, the Chinese squad drew their series against Team Falcons. On the other side, the BetBoom Team humiliated Nouns with a 2-0 victory, with the kill score of Game 1 being 24 to 1.

In the second series, Team Zero destroyed the BetBoom Team 2-0, placing themselves at a 3-1 record.

Still, the two favorites of the group can still bounce back on Day 2.

Group D

Group D was the most one-sided group so far. Team Liquid and Team Spirit went 4-0, both winning their matches against Aurora and beastcoast.

Overall, the games weren’t too interesting except for Game 2 in the match between Team Spirit and Aurora. The Southeast Asians built up a significant gold lead and took Roshan, but made the mistake of trying to go high ground against the best high ground defenders in the world.

After a prolonged game of back-and-forth engagements, Collapse turned out to be the savior for the TI-winning squad, making massive plays on his Sand King. After 57 minutes, Team Spirit pulled off the comeback to finish the day 4-0.

Aurora and beastcoast have a lot of work to do.

Still, it is worth noting that no teams will be eliminated from the Group Stage.
