Team Liquid Struggle In The DreamLeague Season 22 Group Stage
Didn't get to catch up on the DreamLeague Season 22 games? Here's a quick recap of what happened on Day 2.
Group A
The BetBoom Team continue holding their title as “onliners” and tops the group 7-1, only losing one map. Team Falcons currently sit in second place above a four-way tie for third place. Surprisingly, the two Chinese teams in Group A are at the bottom of the group, only managing to find two wins each.
The day started with OG taking a map off the Gladiators, but the series ended up in a draw. After going 0-4 on Day 1, G2.IG finally picked up their first win after a draw against Virtus.Pro. The BetBoom Team continued their dominance and defeated Azure Ray 2-0 after coming back from an 11,000 net worth deficit in the first map.
In the second round of matches, G2.IG converted their second win after defeating Team Falcons with an impeccable performance from NothingToSay’s KOTL. At the same time, a massive upset happened, as Heroic could win 2-0 against Azure Ray.
If nothing improves for the Chinese teams, we could very well see Azure Ray and G2.IG facing an early elimination.
Group B
Group B became much more interesting following the news of MinD_ContRoL’s exclusion from the Tundra Esports lineup. The lack of an Off Laner caused Tundra’s match against Shopify Rebellion to be delayed by 30 minutes. Tundra got a last-minute stand-in in the form of laise, and brought in kasane later in the day.
It’s hard to imagine that Shopify Rebellion and Team Aurora are tied with Xtreme Gaming for first place, all having a record of 6-2. Team Spirit are barely in the top four, with a 4-4 score. Meanwhile, Tundra Esports, Team Secret, 1win, and surprisingly, Team Liquid, are in the bottom half of the group.
Even with a substitute, Tundra still drew their series 1-1 against Shopify Rebellion. At the same time, Team Aurora swept Team Liquid 2-0, putting the Western European powerhouse in a terrible position in the group. Yatoro had a chance to play against his idol, Ame, and Xtreme Gaming. A masterclass performance from Xm and Xxs helped the Chinese squad win 2-0 over the TI winners.
The next batch of games featured some crazy comebacks. Tundra Esports turned the game around against Team Aurora with a 15,000 net worth deficit after Pure survived the Rosh fight at 1% HP. Things continued to go wrong for Team Liquid, as they threw an 11,000 net worth lead against Ame’s Anti-Mage.
All teams have three more matches to play before the conclusion of the Group Stage. Remember that the bottom four teams will be eliminated from the tournament.
