Team Liquid Slay Talon And Will Face Team Spirit In The Grand Final Of The Riyadh Masters 2023
Team Liquid has defeated Talon Esports in the Lower Bracket Final, meaning Liquid will move on to face Team Spirit in the Grand Final.
These two teams last met in the Upper Bracket, where Liquid robbed Talon of their win. A rematch between the two happened on the final day of the Riyadh Masters, where Team Liquid had no issue dealing with Talon, a clean 2-0 sweep to move on to the final match against Team Spirit.
Talon had a fantastic run this tournament and exceeded a lot of expectations. They have done Liquid a favor in eliminating the Gaimin Gladiators from the tournament, Team Liquid’s kryptonite. The Southeast Asian roster will go home knowing they’ve placed top three and will be rewarded $1,700,000 for their efforts.
After the match against Talon, Team Liquid’s captain iNSaNiA was asked for his thoughts on this Grand Final matchup against Team Spirit.
“The difference is that there are no Gaimin Gladiators waiting for us in the final. It should be a really exciting final against Team Spirit. They kind of got us yesterday, and I hope we came up with some ideas, and we can take it back with them today.”
Qualifying for the top two in Riyadh means that this tournament is Team Liquid’s fifth Grand Final since this calendar year started. They have only missed out on DreamLeague Season 20, where the team somehow placed last. Apart from that tournament, their lowest place in LAN tournaments this year is second.
Liquid has yet to win an event, but all of that can be written off if they win in Riyadh, the biggest tournament of the year so far. Will they emerge victorious, or will Team Spirit return to their TI-winning form?
