G2.IG Pull Off Comeback Against Azure Ray To Qualify For Wallachia
The two usual suspects of playing in the Grand Final of Chinese Qualifiers, G2.iG and Azure Ray, met again for a slot at PGL Wallachia Season 1. As usual, the meeting of these two teams would always produce lots of late-game Dota 2 action, and they didn’t disappoint this time.
The first game started off close, butG2.iG eventually found a good fight and took control of the game. The map was delayed to 66 minutes due to Ori's Zeus on high-ground defense duties, but G2.iG still got the job done without too many issues. Monet ended the game 14/1/16 on his Luna.
In the second map, Azure Ray looked to take control after building an 8,000 net worth lead. However, this net worth lead was attributed to Lou playing Alchemist, resulting in inflated gold. G2.iG could pick favorable fights and end up winning the game after an excellent performance from JT- and NothingToSay.
Azure Ray did not want to go out 0-3, so they played a super clean game on the third map. Though they played very slowly, Azure Raycontinued to choke G2.iG out of the map and eventually ended it at 53 minutes.
The main highlight of the series was the fourth game. G2.iG was sitting in a good position going into the mid game, but Azure Ray began taking the lead, eventually building a 28,000 net worth lead. Despite such a huge advantage, Azure Ray could not break through the high ground, as JT- skewered them back to Tier 4s, allowing G2.iG a way back into the game.
Still, the success felt short-lived as Azure Ray could muster up another massive gold lead after their throw. However, G2.iG coordinated the final team fight extremely well, team-wiping Azure Ray without buybacks and completing the comeback.
With this 3-1 victory, Azure Ray will miss out on Romania, while G2.iG finally qualify for another event.
