The Dota action does not stop. Despite just finishing PGL Wallachia Season 1 yesterday, twelve teams will continue putting on a show for DreamLeague Season 23. We do not have week-long Group Stages this season, as the first phase will end on May 22.

On the first day of groups, we saw RAMZES666 back on the Tier 1 scene, Malr1ne returning to play for the Falcons, and the Gaimin Gladiators returning to form.

Group A

After a disappointing exit from PGL Wallachia, losing to BOOM Esports, the Gaimin Gladiators are playing exceptionally well. They defeated PSG Quest and Xtreme Gaming to finish with a 4-0 record.

The most interesting match from Group A was Team Liquid against Aurora. The Western European squad built a 15,000 net worth lead by the 40-minute mark, but 23savage’s Faceless Void was allowed to enter the late game. After a series of intense fights, Aurora completed the comeback and stomped the following map in 28 minutes.

The group has a four-way tiebreaker, as Team Liquid, Heroic, Aurora, and Xtreme Gaming all went 2-2. The biggest loser of the group is PSG Quest, who ended the day winless.

Group B

The second group featured many interesting storylines. RAMZES666 and skem debuted in their respective teams, Tundra Esports and Shopify Rebellion. Additionally, Team Falcons had no absences for this event.

skem’s first appearance in the North American organization did not go well, as Tundra defeated Shopify Rebellion in two maps. In the first map, the Rebels threw a 7,000 gold lead and lost to Pure’s carry Huskar in the second.

In the meantime, Team Falcons steamrolled all their opponents, and the BetBoom Team suffered a 0-2 loss against Azure Ray. Aside from the Falcons sitting 4-0, the rest of the group remains very competitive.

DreamLeague Season 23 is held in an online format and will run from May 20 to 26. Twelve teams compete for $1,000,000 and much-needed EPT points to qualify for tournaments like the Riyadh Masters.
